Runkesten – the “Rocking Stone”

Runkesten is about 5 meters high, 4 meters wide and 10 meters long and by scientists considered to be the largest logan stone in the world, which can be put into motion.

The block was deposited here during the melting-phase of the last inland ice, 10,000-12,000 years ago.

Legends says that the Runkesten was thrown here from Pelarne by a gigant woman named Kåra who was disturbed by the church bells in Rumskulla, It is said that she will destroy anyone who manage to overturn the stone.
