Astrid Lindgren's World

Astrid Lindgren's World

Astrid Lindgren’s World is a fabulous place for young and old. Anyone who has grown up with the stories of Pippi, Emil and Astrid Lindgren's other characters can recognize the settings in the park. Here there are plenty of opportunities to be drawn into the adventures. Astrid Lindgren's World is Sweden's largest outdoor theater with special written scenes based on Astrid Lindgren's stories.

Step right into the stories

For a child, it is a big event to get to meet and play with Pippi Longstocking, Karlsson on the roof, That Emil or one of the other favourite characters. Visit, for example, Villa Villekulla, Pippi is always doing something funny. You can see her fighting pirates or playing jokes with Kling and Klang.

In Katthult, you can experience a farmhouse as it looked at the turn of the last century, wander among the hay meadows and the hundred-year-old oaks. Nearby there is a play barn, a small lake and a lodge where you can jump in the hay. Of course, Emil's carpenter's shop, full of wooden men, is also here. The Svensson family is here all summer, this is where they live. The adventure continues in Matt's Fort and in the large Mattisskogen all around. Visit the dungeons in the castle, try Skalle-Per's bed and see the Gap of Hell open before your feet. Ronja, Mattis, Lovis and all the other robbers are here during the main season. Don't forget to book your visit!

If you want to be able to play, you have to eat

If you have brought your own food, feel free to settle down somewhere nice and eat, there are plenty of picnic spots here. We can especially recommend the Picnic Path near Katthult or the Björkdungen below Den lilla lilla Staden. In Picniclunden, Björkdungen, and at the mill in Mattisskogen, there are also proper barbecue areas. In our restaurants, we cook all food from scratch in our own kitchens. You will find everything from simpler dishes, to hearty Småland home cooking, such as meatballs with mashed potatoes or fried pork with raggmunk. Most of the ingredients are sourced from the area and the menus have been developed in collaboration with one of Sweden's most prominent chefs, Fredrik Eriksson from Långbro Värdshus. If someone in the family is allergic or needs a special diet for some other reason, we also offer one or more allergy options.

Here, the fun continues even when the summer is over

In September, it is full speed during the weekends and on weekdays the park is open for walking and playing. Later in the autumn, we celebrate autumn holidays in the park and in connection with that we invite you to a traditional Småland autumn market.
